It is used to determine the proper days on which to observe the annual fast, perform Hajj, to celebrate other Islamic holidays and festivals. Widely being used by Muslims to determine the proper time for daily prayers as well as for religious and cultural events. In other words it is a tool to keep track of Islamic occasions.
